Bentley Ford has been in the financial services industry for more than a decade and is an investment advisor representative with Prime Capital Investment Advisors. He holds his FINRA Series 7 and 66 securities registrations as well as life, accident and health insurance licenses. He is an Accredited Investment Fiduciary® (AIF).

Bentley splits his time between helping companies and helping individuals. For businesses, he helps with company-sponsored retirement plans, non-qualified plans, executive benefit plans, cash balance pension plans and many other strategies. “In my view, small-business owners are taking the risk, employing populations, and helping entire communities thrive. We help companies recruit and retain top talent by providing their executives and employees with financial and retirement help,” Bentley says. “My focus is on helping owners keep more of what they make and helping them get to a place where work is optional for them.”

For individuals, he works with high-net worth professionals, executives and retirees to develop and implement financial plans to meet their unique individual goals, including portfolio accumulation and tax reduction, as well as estate planning and conservation. “My approach with clients is goals-based—by honing in on specific, concrete goals, we can engineer focused, customized plans. Whether I’m talking to a young family, a couple about to retire or a high-level executive, I find that people can be too busy just reacting to life rather than planning ahead. I help them take a step back, figure out what they really want and build a plan to help them achieve their life objectives,” he says.

Bentley understands the importance of financial planning at a visceral level. When he was just four years old, his father died. Just starting out in his career, his father had no financial plan in place to protect his young wife or the children he left behind. Bentley and his sister were raised by their single mom who worked for the school district and received Social Security benefits to help support the family. As a result, Bentley started working at age 15, and he made an important lifelong vow to himself. At age 22, he hired a financial planner who put a full financial plan together for him. “It wasn’t until later that I truly appreciated the enormous benefit of setting goals, creating a plan and following the plan by being disciplined about my financial decisions.”

He fell in love with the ongoing financial planning process through the years and decided to explore it as a career path even while being promoted into positions of increasing responsibility at Enterprise. When he interviewed with Prime Capital Investment Advisors, Bentley immediately knew the company philosophy aligned with his.

“Our firm is truly collaborative and not competitive. It is not up to one advisor to know everything; we work in teams to develop the best solutions possible to help clients achieve their goals. More minds are better than one, and there is expertise layered throughout the firm. Our financial advisors operate like internal quarterbacks: We uncover client needs and take them back to the team for solutions,” he says.

Bentley grew up in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, and he is devoted to the community here. He believes in giving back and regularly volunteers and donates to local charities, especially those which involve children. Bentley is on the board and serves as development committee chair for the Children’s Advocacy Center for North Texas. He serves as a committee member and is part of the ministry for the Lewisville-Flower Mound Young Life organization. He is a member of both the Flower Mound Chamber of Commerce and the Colleyville Chamber of Commerce. He coaches local sports, including baseball for the Flower Mound Youth Sports Association, where he is the director of the premier baseball and recreational baseball divisions.

When he’s not working, Bentley enjoys spending time with his wife, Lori, and their twin sons, Brooks and Braxton. His golf game and international travel have taken a back seat to family life, at least for now. He coaches his boys’ baseball team, and they go deer hunting during the winters. The family spends summers on the water at nearby Lake Grapevine, where they have a boat. They take at least a couple of family vacations a year as well as long-weekend stays in cabins at various lakes around Texas.
